Great post. I am working on history of Salento in Southern Italy. After defeating the Byzantines in Bari, the Normans set to administratively organize the region in a similar feudal organization. It brought some stability to the area for the first time since the end of Roman control. Those Normans were busy. Battle of Hastings in 1066 and Siege of Bari in 1070 in opposite ends of the European continent.
